Abbazia di Novacella Lagrein 2023
Trentino- Alto-Adige, ItalyAbbazia is a monastery founded in 1142 by the Augustinian Order of Canons Regular, and produces wine from their estate vineyards, complemented by neighbouring growers. This lagrein comes from vineyards in in Bolzano’s Quirein district, at 260-350m, and on soils mixed with sand, clay and eroded quartzite porphyry. This was fermented and aged in stainless prior to aging 6 months in neutral large oak casks. Fragrant wild plum, boysenberry, blackberry, mulberry is wrapped with finely sticky tannins to structure and support through to the pink peppercorn studded finish. There's lovely acidity to support this perfumed, wild red, drinking now and with tie ahead.Tasted: 02 June 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| BC | $37.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
