Sicily, ItalyFrom Lipari Island, off the coast of Sicily, this blend of Malvasia delle Lipari and Carricante grows in deep, sandy, volcanic soils, trained in the free standing alberello system (little tree) at 350m. After destemming, the 60% malvasia fermented in stainless, and the 40% carricante in older oak, followed by bâtonnage for 6 months. Fragrant pear blossoms, quince, tangerine, and meyer lemon sail through this saline white, with texture built through lees contact, and freshness courtesy the breezy Mediterranean.
