Champagne Domaine Rousseaux-Batteux Verzenay Grand Cru Les Potences Extra Brut 2020

Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceAdrien Rousseaux is the 4th generation of his family to make Champagne in the Grand Cru Village of Verzenay, in the Montagne de Reims. The Rousseaux family has harvested grapes here since the 18th century. Since Adrien took over from his parents in 2012, he ceased the use of herbicides and insecticides on the 2.6ha estate, and farms organically. This pinot noir BdN is entirely from Verzenay, and from the lieu-dit Les Potences, planted in 1975. After a native ferment in wood, this moved to bottle without filtration. It was disgorged in May 2024 with less than 3 g/L. Only 942 bottles were produced. Structured and complexed with perfumed wild cherry, crisp green apple, and a wonderful fine, firm chalky texture that stretches long on the saline finish. A serious, savoury BdN ready for the dinner table.Tasted: 19 May 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
