Testalonga Baby Bandito Chin Up Cinsaut 2024
Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaOne of the stars of South Africa's New Wave wine renaissance, Testalonga is Craig and Carla Hawkins' personal project, dedicated to experimental wines and rescued grapes, often from old vineyards. This organic dry land bush vine Swartland cinsault (or cinsaut, as they write it) is tipped with 10% tannat, planted in 1981. It was destemmed into 2000L fermenters for native ferment and 12 days on skins before pressing off into 5000L cement tank and a stainless tank. Dark plum, mulberry, thorny blackberry streaks through this crunchy lighter (11.5%)) red, still with a firm, fine tannic grip, and an alluring concrete texture. The finish is snappy with a blackcurrant twist. A fun, pure and stripped back red.Tasted: 02 April 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| ON | $34.95 | 750ml | consignment |
