Mullineux Rondomskrik Iron Chenin Blanc 2024

Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaOne of ZA's top champions and saviours of old vines, wife / husband Andrea (winemaker) and Chris (viticulturist) Mullineux are known for their wide range of terroir expressive wines. This chenin comes from Rondomskirk's vineyard's Koffieklip / iron rich soils (Rondomskrik translates to 'scared from all around' referencing the fierce winds that come from all directions. From bush vines planted 1989, this was whole bunch pressed and native fermented in 500-2000L barrels (foudres were new) with MLF, before 11 months in 225L barrels. Perfumed quince, fleshy pear, crystalline lemon are woven through this structural, upright wine, firmly boned by the profound soils, though padded with the gentle lees, streaming this to a perfumed pear blossom finish. Impressive, powerful white, drinking beautifully now, and with ample time ahead.Tasted: 01 April 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
