G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo 2023

Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalySurprisingly, given their access to great terroir, this estate was only founded in 1972 by Aldo, who just 4 years earlier, age 15, took over his family's vines. Named after his father Giuseppe Domenico who planted most of the family’s vines, the property sits at one of the highest points in Piedmont, so the grapes ripen later than anywhere else in the region. Today the estate comprises 150 acres. This comes from young estate vineyards (10-25 years) surrounding the winery. After a 19 day ferment this aged in primarily stainless with a small part of neutral oak. Crushed florals, wild raspberry, wild cherry is kissed with forest smoke and lifted with easy red currant acidity. Tannins are finely firm yet supple, framing this medium red to a lingering floral finish. So charming, so versatile, and such great value.Tasted: 07 April 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
