Niagara Escarpment, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThomas Bachelder is one of Canada's leading chardonnay, gamay, and pinot noir specialists, honed through time in Bourgogne and Oregon, as well as years in the vineyards of his Niagara home base. Les Villages blends barrels from across his breadth of Beamsville Bench and Twenty Mile Bench, and primarily clay, dolomitic limestone, and silt soils. Vines were planted from 1990 - 1999, rest at 120 - 169m altitude, and spread from 3.25 - 6.9km away from the Lake. This was native fermented with full MLF, spending 17 months in French barrels (15% new). Ripe meyer lemon, green apple, Anjou pear is lit with a cleansing salinity that sharpens and brightens the palate, and lingers on the buzzy finish. There's a gentle lees layer decking this, but the shimmering texture overrides. An excellent vintage for Les Villages, drinking now and over the next few years easy.Tasted: 12 August 2026Tasted by: Prices:

Niagara Escarpment, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaQuietly authoritative, like Thomas Bachelder, this Villages chardonnay is all you could want for the price. Especially if you are a New World Burgundy fan, this lean, mineral, stony, light, lemony chardonnay is a lot of fun to drink. Often producers try too hard for a home run, but this wine quietly delivers for its station in the wine hierarchy, and who could ask for more? Anything that doesn't make it into the single vineyard crus ends up here, delivering a lightly buttery, warm nose with a savoury, nutty palate and a light, fresh, lemony finish. Love this style of chardonnay. It stays true to itself.Tasted: 17 April 2026Tasted by: Prices:
