Bachelder Bai Xu Gamay Noir 30% Whole Cluster 2024
Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaBachelder produces several Gamay labels, now up to ten by our count, and it appears the Bai Xu is again at or near the top of those labels. Grown at Four Mile Creek by Jackson and Amy Bai, the vines were planted in 1981, making them the oldest Bachelder works with. It's fermented with 30% whole cluster and finished at 12% alcohol. The style is refined, almost delicate, with dusty red fruit and mineral notes on the nose. It is slightly richer, with fine concentration on the palate, almost Pinot-like. We like the purity of fruit and balance, which mingles with some earthy undertones. It should improve in the bottle through 2029.Tasted: 17 April 2026Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss and Anthony GismondiPrices:| ON | $32.00 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
