Champagne Rare Brut 2013

Champagne, FranceIt's RARE that you'll find a Champagne from a bottle this ornamental. Rare used to be the prestige cuvée of Piper-Heidsieck, but now is a stand alone brand. The champagne house itself has roots dating back to 1785, when Queen Marie Antoinette tasted the House’s first cuvée. Known for its scarcity, only 14 vintages have been released since 1976. This chardonnay dominant blend (around 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir) sources grapes from Montagne de Reims. Lemon loaf and brioche up front, with ripe yellow apples, meringue, and lemon curd on the creamy mid, with a lingering dried fruit on the humming finish. A wine built for food, and a solid showing from the cooler, wetter 2013.Tasted: 30 March 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
