Champagne Domaine Rousseaux-Batteux Verzenay Grand Cru Les Grandes Voyettes Extra Brut 2020

Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceAdrien Rousseaux is the 4th generation of his family to make Champagne in the Grand Cru Village of Verzenay, in the Montagne de Reims. The Rousseaux family has harvested grapes here since the 18th century. Since Adrien took over from his parents in 2012, he ceased the use of herbicides and insecticides on the 2.6ha estate, and farms organically. This cuvée is from the lieu-dit Les Grandes Voyettes, and blends approximately equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, native fermented and rested in oak and bottled without fining or filtration. It was disgorged May 2024 with under 3 g/L dosage. Quite vinous, with meringue and deep chalk veined with green apple, stone fruit, lemon pith, and anise. The finish lingers long with cascading crushed chalk and oyster shell, enticing another sip. 2225 bottles produced.Tasted: 04 March 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
