Dalkeith Kalmoesfontein Chenin Blanc 2024
Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaDalkeith is a sister project to Jackson Family Wines' Capensis project in South Africa, a line entirely devoted to Chardonnay. Winemaker Graham Weerts gets to investigate other grapes, namely Syrah and Chenin Blanc, with Dalkeith. A close friendship with Adi Badenhorst kicked off this project, with Weerts sourcing Dalkeith's grapes from two of Adi's vineyards (Adi was Graham’s best man at his wedding, so we can safely assume the pedigree of fruit). This chenin comes from Kalmoesfontein, a well known Swartland name. This was fermented in various vessels including 225L barrels, 400L Clayvers, and 300L barrels (10% new overall) with regular bâtonnage over 10 months. Ripe quince, mirabelle plum is scented with perfumed Roiboos as it rolls across the textural, lees-decked, medium bodied palate, to a bitter tangerine and crushed stone finish. Quite a smart, polished, Swartland example.Tasted: 12 February 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| BC | $41.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
