Code Wines Grower Series Syrah 2024

Rattlesnake Hills, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis Okanagan winery is the vision of Shay and Harlee Code, farmers and owners of this organic 5 acre Okanagan Falls east bench estate. They began planting in 2017 with chardonnay and syrah. This 2024 rosé is part of their CIBC Grower Series, with fruit sourced from Washington State's Rattlesnake Hills AVA. The destemmed fruit was cold soaked with whole berries before inoculation and extended maceration prior to pressing off into French barrels (37% new) where it remained 10 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Savoury, broody dark fruit and smoked cured meat is seasoned with clove, balsam, and cracked black pepper along a textural, medium bodied palate. Tannins are long and well knit, pinning the sides in through a peppery finish. A nice result from a tricky situation, and an ideal pour with lamb burgers or meatballs.Tasted: 16 February 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
