Catena Zapata The Birth of Cabernet La Naissance de Cabernet 2021

Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaA cooler than average 2021 growing season is at the core of this red wine, ensuring the necessary balance of sugars and acid. The fruit comes from loamy alluvial soils with dense surface gravel at Angelica Sur Vineyard, San Carlos, Uco Valley. Typically, the altitude is 1100 metres. The wine itself is a delicious, textural, fragrant dark fruit and spicy 90/10 blend of cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc, fermented in concrete eggs, small stainless steel tanks, and French oak roll fermentors, before ageing in first, second, and third use barrels for 18-24 months. At 13.8% alcohol, it has a sense of elegance that leaves you wanting more.Tasted: 12 February 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
