Blasted Church Cabernet Sauvignon Jesus Saves 2021
Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaLast tasted in November, this wine is basically unchanged. The blend is a 94/6 mix of two late ripening grape varieties, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. The cabernet comes from the Jose Vineyard (clones 191 and 169) on the western edge of Osoyoos, Inkameep Vineyard (clone 169) on the Oliver East Bench, and the home estate vineyard on the Skaha Bench. The petit verdot was sourced from Lloyd Vineyard on the west side of Osoyoos. All components were kept separate during fermentation and aging. The wine spent 12 months in French oak, with 30% new and the rest a mix of second, third, fourth, and neutral barrels. After a year, it was racked, blended, and returned to barrels for an additional 180 days. The nose is floral with plenty of cassis, plum, and spicy blueberry. The tannins are slightly sticky but not problematic. The finish is persistent, with notes of Christmas cake, sagebrush, and a kiss of smoke.Tasted: 19 February 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:| BC | $36.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct, select private retailers |
