Aspirant de Beychevelle 2021

St. Julien, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceAspirant de Beychevelle is Château Beychevelle's take on a younger, more approachable wine, with a higher proportion of merlot (here 65%) for friendliness, and the remainder of cabernet sauvignon for structure. From sustainably farmed estate fruit and gravelled clay soils, this rested 1 year in French barrels. Crushed red florals and plummy red fruit is seasoned with dusty gravels, and buoyed by an easy, stony acidity. Tannins are long and fine, with an appropriate sinewy grip to structure, and lead to a lingering gravel dust finish. Drinking very smartly now, ideally with steak frites.Tasted: 21 February 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
