Gérard Bertrand An 806 2021

Corbières, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceThe palate exhibits youthful blackcurrants, plums, and cherries, accented by the aromatic garrigue typical of southern France. In contrast, on the palate, you find smooth black fruits and mocha that run through the finish. The tannins are dense yet fine grained and will support this wine's development over the next five to seven years. It is enjoyable now with tajines or grilled vegetables. There is superb value here in a culinary versatile red. The first traces of Château de Peyrepertuse date back to 806, a legacy of the Cathars who built the citadels of vertigo that still overlook the vineyard in Corbières. Bertrand's GSM blend is grown in the renowned Corbières region, which boasts impressive geological diversity, including schist, limestone, and rolled pebbles. Every bunch is hand harvested, and during fermentation, syrah undergoes 10 to 18 days of carbonic maceration, while grenache and mourvèdre undergo traditional maceration with full destemming. Post-malolactic, the wines are blended and aged for 8 months in 225 L Bordeaux barrels.Tasted: 31 January 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
