Domaine Papagiannakos Assyrtiko 2024
GreeceDomaine Papagiannakos is situated on the coastal Attican peninsula, a location that naturally imparts salinity and vibrant acidity to the wine. The domaine was founded in 1919 in the heart of the Mesogaia plain in Attica, just 30 km from the shadow of the Acropolis. Third generation winemaker Vassilis Papagiannakos produced this Assyrtiko, cultivated on unirrigated limestone soil at an elevation of approximately 100 meters in northeast Attiki. The wine is fermented and matured in stainless steel, and after fermentation, it spends some time on fine lees. It also matures an additional 10-12 months in the bottle at the winery. I enjoy the fresh floral citrus, white blossoms, mandarin, and lime. The palate reflects similar flavours, with a subtle streak of orange running through its inviting chalky minerality. It is versatile, with the Greeks suggesting it can be served with grilled swordfish or roasted belly pork.Tasted: 31 January 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:| ON | $26.95 | 750ml | LCBO |
