Rattlesnake Hills, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThere is a lot happening here, starting with aromas of preserved lemon, caramel, golden apple, and toasted almond. This evolves and expands on the palate, revealing hints of oak, subtle lemon, brioche, stone fruit, and more as it unfolds, with good balance and a lingering finish. Due to the severe frosts in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys in 2023 and 2024 that significantly affected the vineyards, this 2024 wine was produced at the winery in Okanagan Falls from grapes grown in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA in Washington State. 50% of the wine was aged in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation. The remainder was aged in a blend of new and neutral French oak, which did undergo malolactic.Tasted: 14 February 2026Tasted by: Prices:
Rattlesnake Hills, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis Okanagan winery is the vision of Shay and Harlee Code, farmers and owners of this organic 5 acre Okanagan Falls east bench estate. They began planting in 2017 with chardonnay and syrah. This 2024 Chardonnay is part of their CIBC Grower Series, with fruit sourced from Washington State's Rattlesnake Hills AVA. After a stainless ferment, 50% of the wine moved to stainless with no MLF, while the remainder moved into new and neutral French oak, with full MLF. The wine was lightly fined and filtered in spring 2025. Bright and creamy up front, with lemon curd, brioche, tangerine, and toasty spice at the fore, trailing into a softer, rounder finish with a tangerine twist. A useful partner for creamy dishes that require some wood on the chardonnay (like chicken stew).Tasted: 20 January 2026Tasted by: Prices:
