Maria Rigol Ordi Microtiratge 9 Cava Gran Reserva 2013
Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainMaria Rigol Ordi is a 5th generation family of Cava makers since 1897, based in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Along with their main range of Cavas, they also began producing microtiratges, small experimental productions of unique cavas, in 2013. This, #9, is a blend of xarel-lo, macabeo, and pinot noir from the 2013 vintage, with 126 months on lees until disgorgement in September 2024. That catapults it into Gran Reserva category. 1343 bottles. A sherried note opens the nose, with ample autolytic notes of toasted hazelnuts, brioche, and dough. Toast, crunchy apples, and pithy lemon enter on the palate, narrowing the focus to a lemon pith finish. There is ample development here, with 10 years on lees action. A divisive, mature, contemplative style, best enjoyed over the course of an evening.Tasted: 12 December 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| BC | $110.00 | 750ml | select private retailers |
