Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais-Villages 2022

Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceInterest in Gamay is increasing worldwide, but out of the 35,000 hectares planted globally, 22,000 are in the Beaujolais region, spread across 38 villages. Maison Drouhin has been working with Gamay since the early 1950s. The Village edition is a blend of grapes grown across the schist and pink granite from several villages. The goal, according to Véronique Boss-Drouhin, is to create a wine of great charm. Look for a vibrant red raspberry hue and a subdued, earthy nose with floral and red fruit. There is more density here than you might expect, with a fresh, silky mid-palate filled with dark plums and spice. It is made using a traditional Beaujolais method: semi-carbonic maceration with whole grape bunches. The maceration lasts six to ten days, followed by ageing in stainless steel vats for six to eight months.Tasted: 07 December 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
