Champagne Charpentier Terre d'Émotion Brut Vérité NV
Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, FranceThe Charpentier family can trace its Champenois roots back to 1855 when an ancestor opened an inn on the banks of the river Marne. Now Jean Marc Charpentier, 8th generation, is at the helm. Under his guidance, their 24 hectares of vines was converted to to organic and biodynamic viticulture, reaching full organic certification in 2021 and Demeter certification in 2023. From crus Charly-Sur-Marne and Saulchery, this blend of 70% chardonnay, 15% pinot noir, and 15% pinot meunier is rooted in limestone marls. After a long native ferment in stainless with full MLF, this was blended with reserve wines stored in oak before heading to bottle and 60 months sur lattes. It was disgorged with 6.5g/L. Meringue, nougat, and pure lemon curd roll along the suave palate, shaped with chalk and lemon peel, and finishing with a lingering oyster shell. Nice completeness here.
