Much more a Bordelais style franc, with ripe black cherry, cassis, black liquorice, and toasted wood seasoning, with ample supple tannins to frame, and a lingering baking spiced finish. Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Bohemian franc comes from a small two-acre parcel at Deadman Lake Vineyard, now two decades old. Winemaker Michal Mosny has a light touch, and this release shows that. It strikes a balance between the power and fullness of South Okanagan Cabernet Franc and the savoury, desert scrub sense of place that gives this wine a rush of mid-palate authenticity. That said, there is a vibrancy and coolness here that evokes the Loire style, led by ripe red and black fruit, streaked with a savoury, spicy undercurrent, and rich, refined tannins.
