Wending Home Auxerrois 2023
Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaWending Home is a new Niagara family winery owned by Ying Feng and her husband, partnered with veteran Niagara winemaker and educator Ron Giesbrecht. Wending refers to the slow route to home, with added meaning in Cantonese (Wēn 问, Dīng 鼎) as illustrated by their traditional stamp. This estate Auxerrois comes is tipped with 7% riesling and 7% gewürztraminer. Unfortunately the auxerrois, planted in the mid-90s, suffered too much from winter damage over the years, so this release is the first and last for this grape. Perfumed lychee, elderflower, white blossoms sail through this slight, fresh wine, with a subtle buzzy hum on the finish.
