Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom one of South Africa's heritage producers, established in 1692 (!), Creative Block 3 is a blend of 94% shiraz, 5% mourvèdre, and 1% viognier from the coastal regions of Groenekloof and Stellenbosch. Destemmed grapes were fermented in stainless, and racked to 300L barrels to complete MLF (90% French, 10% American, 50% new overall) and rest for 16 months. Dark, inky blackberry and plum is dusted with dark cocoa and espresso, and glide along the ripe, full bodied palate to a warming brown spiced finish. Tannins are finely sticky and powdery, gently pinning in the sides. Mourvèdre's wildness feels at the fore of this red though it only makes up 5% of the blend.
