Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe first Evernden Vineyard riesling is out, and it tells a story of the Similkameen. The steep, stony vineyard, buffeted by daily strong winds, has a wildness that weaves through the lean, lemony textures of this small lot offering. The nose has a distinct white flower, jasmine aroma that sets the scene for lemon, honeysuckle, and a faint mineral petrol finish. It is remarkably complex and ticks all the gastronomic boxes for serving at the dinner table. A great wine that will only improve in the bottle over the next decade or two.
