Pere Ventura Rosé Brut Extra Dry NV

Penedès, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainLabelled as extra dry, I was expecting this to be accessible, fruity, and off-dry (much like a lot of Cava rosé made from trepat). This is decidedly a step up, showing a more sophisticated side of the category. It feels more Brut-like in style, finishing drier than off-dry to this palate, with crisp, mouthwatering acidity to balance the dosage. The fruit is also more restrained, with ripe red berries, citrus, and white blossom aromatics, along with surprising breadth and chalkiness to the palate. Nine months on lees has given the mousse a soft, creamy texture. Fantastic value for the price, and a wine that manages to be both serious and fun. The trepat comes from Conca de Barberà, with vines averaging 20 years of age.Tasted: 16 November 2025Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
