Matua Valley Pinot Grigio 2023
Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandMarlborough pinot gris is new to me, but the style is familiar. It's fresh and bright, cool fermented with selected yeasts to bring out its vibrant range of intense nectarine and Nashi pear, streaked with honeysuckle and spice on the finish. It spends time on its lees to develop some texture and a creamy character that complements the acidity and citrus zest. As cool as the surrounding ocean can be, this wine benefits from plenty of sunshine, allowing the fruit to ripen fully. The winery pairs this pinot gris with wine soaked chicken seasoned with a dash of lime and a dollop of honey, grilled over a hot barbecue.
