Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSummerland's steep sloped Elysia Vineyard, planted in 2006 over limestone and decomposed granite, is home to this syrah cofermented with 10% whole cluster viognier. It opens with an aromatic, sagebrush violet infused with energy from the viognier. The palate offers more of the same, with perfumed violets, cured meats, wild blueberries, smoked plums, and cracked pepper. The acidity is bright, supported by silky textures with a touch of cocoa and richness lined with white pepper. Finesse and elegance define its Rhone style.
