JC Wickens Oranje Blanje 2024
Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaSwerwer (Nomad / Wanderer) is Jasper Wickens project in the Swartland, and this Oranje Blanje (Orange of White) was initially developed for the Japanese Market, a side project to not compete with his well known Swerwer line of wines. This skin contact white is from chenin blanc and grenache blanc. The grenache blanc went into in 2500L oak foudre, with 80% free run juice removed. Fresh, early harvested chenin was added to the mix, and then the wine native fermented for 22 days on skins. After 10 months aging in older oak, it was bottled without fining or filtration. A glowing orange hue, this streams tangerine, crushed stones around a pure, fresh core, with a rinse of bergamot on the finish. Great energy and tension, with chenin's hallmark acidity still shining bright (a rarity with many orange wines). This complements Jasper's Rooi-Groen on the market.Tasted: 05 November 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| ON | $35.95 | 750ml | winery direct |
