Comando G Villanueva 2023
Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, SpainComando G is a partnership of minds, mates and winemakers Fernando García and Dani Landi. They were drawn to the near-forgotten high altitude old-vine vineyards of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid, and began to gain the trust of the previous generation(s) who had tended to these wind-swept vines for the Co-ops. With time, came trust, and the chance to see these old vines into these in-demand wines. This village wine comes off 3 plots in Villanueva de Ávila, in the Valle del Alto Alberche. These 60 year old organic vines sit at 1000m in granitic soils. After a native ferment with 100% whole clusters, this aged 10 months in foudres and concrete tanks prior to bottling without fining or filtration. Dusky dark florals, sultry salted plum, dark cherry pulse through this energetic wine, with a wild scrubby herbal character woven throughout, and fine, long stencilled tannins carrying to a stony, saline finish. Fantastic finesse here. 3927 bottles produced.Tasted: 22 November 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| BC | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
