Comando G Peña la Mora 1er Cru 2022

Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, SpainComando G is a partnership of minds, mates and winemakers Fernando García and Dani Landi. They were drawn to the near-forgotten high altitude old-vine vineyards of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid, and began to gain the trust of the previous generation(s) who had tended to these wind-swept vines for the Co-ops. With time, came trust, and the chance to see these old vines into these in-demand wines. Peña la Mora is a plot they're described as a 1er Cru, from the village of Navatalgordo, Ávila. Here biodynamically farmed 70-75 year old vines sit at 1200m in quartzite, granitic sands. This was native fermented in oak and concrete, with 100% whole bunch and 60 days of maceration prior to aging 16 months there. It was bottled without fining or filtration. Dark plum, ripe raspberry, and baked blackberries are threaded with a medicinal herbal note, and clad with grippy, sticky, thorny tannins, pinning this through the stony finish. This is showing the power of the warm 2022 vintage.Tasted: 22 November 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
