Comando G Las Umbrías 2022

Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, SpainComando G is a partnership of minds, mates and winemakers Fernando García and Dani Landi. They were drawn to the near-forgotten high altitude old-vine vineyards of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid, and began to gain the trust of the previous generation(s) who had tended to these wind-swept vines for the Co-ops. With time, came trust, and the chance to see these old vines into these in-demand wines. Las Umbrias, identified as a Grand Cru by the boys, comes from a single plot in the area known as Las Umbrías, in the village of Rozas de Puerto Real. These biodynamically farmed vines, 60-65 years old, are rooted in sandy, silty, quartz and granite at 1000m. After a native ferment with 100% whole bunch and 60+ days of maceration, this aged 20 months in 1000 and 1200L foudre, bottled without fining or filtration. Perfumed dark plum, crushed florals, boysenberry are woven with crushed rocks, and structured with finely grippy tea-lined tannins, drawing this to a lingering stony finish. Incredibly finessed and elegant, even more so considering the very warm 2022 vintage. Just wait until the stellar 2023's hit the market. 2809 bottles.Tasted: 22 November 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
