Comando G Las Iruelas 2022

Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, SpainComando G is a partnership of minds, mates and winemakers Fernando GarcĂa and Dani Landi. They were drawn to the near-forgotten high altitude old-vine vineyards of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid, and began to gain the trust of the previous generation(s) who had tended to these wind-swept vines for the Co-ops. With time, came trust, and the chance to see these old vines into these in-demand wines. This, one of their identified Grand Cru sites, is from a single plot in the area Valle de Iruelas, in the village of El Tiemblo. The biodynamically farmed vineyard of 70-75 year old vines sits at 1000m, in slate and quartz soils, surrounded by forest. It was native fermented with 100% whole bunches, with 2 months maceration prior to 2 years aging in concrete tanks, bottled without fining or filtration. Perfumed raspberry, cherry, wild strawberry is scented with fragrant scrubby herbs and crushed florals, lofted with an easy mountainous acidity, and wrapped with long, finely grippy tannins, finishing with a lingering vermouth tinged salinity. Really impressive, graceful, and finessed, yet with gravitas. Even more so considering the hot 2022 vintage. Can't wait to try the 2023. 4522 bottles produced.Tasted: 22 November 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
