Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaJasper's Swartland Red Blend is primarily cofermented cinsault and grenache from decomposed granite soils, with 15% tinta barocca from a dryer, clay soiled vineyard. Most are bush vines, and all were native fermented before blending into older foudre for 11 months. Fragrant crushed plum, wild blackberry, and scrubby garrigue waft through this slender, structured red, perfumed with wild flowers and ample cracked black pepper, and gripped with long, steeped-tea tannins.
