Here, the Grüner Veltliner ripens in granite, gneiss, mica slate, and loess soils. The sites are ideal for producing clean, crisp, fresh white wiens, and in Austria, the grüner veltliner is tailor made for that style. Often, these wines exhibit a purity of fruit seldom found in everyday wines. The Charming is Kamptal-based, mixing delicious green and red apple with a taste of spice. Who knew grüner could be so juicy and charming, while still being highly food-friendly. Definitely underestimated by the masses, but given the move toward light, bright white, perhaps there is hope for grüner yet.
