Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaSwerwer (Nomad / Wanderer) is Jasper Wickens project in the Swartland. He makes this wine from four dry-farmed granitic Paardeberg vineyards, and vines averaging 40 years, with around 5% skin contact, native fermented in older French barrels, where it remains 10 months on lees. Crushed stones and fine downy lees make up the base for crystalline lemon, pear skin, lemongrass, and ample salinity, all pinned taut with a humming granitic grip, and finishing with a lingering bitter lemon pith.
