Craven Wines Cinsaut 2023

Bottelary, Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom older (1975 / 1989) dry farmed bush vines on decomposed granites and silica sands of Stellies' Rustenhof vineyard, this is one of the Bredall family farms that the Cravens started using in 2017. They share the site with with Bernard Bredall and his striking Sons of Sugarland label, as well as with Lukas van Loggerenberg's Geronimo Cinsaut. Rustenhof is one of the region's most coastal vineyards, and you feel it in the freshness of this lifted cinsault. Destemmed and whole berry, this was native fermented and rested in concrete, where it remained until bottling. Light and crunchy, with that alluring concrete rasp, this streams wild cherry, wild raspberry, scrubby herbs, and mustard seed along the lifted palate, framed with sapid, whisper fine tannins to a lingering kirsch-kissed, smoked salts finish.Tasted: 25 September 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
