Alkina Wild Earth Field White Blend 2024
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaAlkina is a certified organic and biodynamic Barossa farm on the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people. The founders honour and learn from the land's Indigenous history (Alkina is an indigenous girl's name meaning 'moon') through their 43 hectares of vines, with the eldest planted in the 1950s. 2024 is the 5th iteration of this blend, primarily semillon, with 5% mixed riesling and doradillo in the mix, and off those initial 1950s vines. Fruit was destemmed into a 700L Georgian quevri and a 400L Italian amphora for native fermentation on full skins. Once that was complete, the vessels were topped up and sealed for MLF and an additional 7 months' rest on skins.
