Stemmari Nero d'Avola 2022
Sicily, ItalyThe nero d'avola grape is an important native grape, found initially in Siracusa and now widely cultivated throughout the island of Sicily. In the case of Stemmari, Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento, is home to this highly structured nero d'avola. Grown in clay, it thrives best when it's not excessively dry. Its deep ruby/black colour promises a wild currant nose and a rich palate, featuring black cherry with a pomegranate seed finish. The winery suggests pairing it with risotto, first courses of meat or lamb, and ideally with traditional Sicilian dishes, such as Spaghetti alla Norma, which features eggplant and smoked ricotta cheese. It is an excellent mid-week red.Tasted: 08 July 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $21.99 | 750ml | select private retailers |
