McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaThis tempranillo is partially sourced from Steve Pannell's first / home vineyard, Koomilla, plus the neighbouring Upper Tintara site, McLaren Flat. Each vineyard was native fermented separately, pressed after 2 weeks on skins, settled in tank, blended, and sent to French puncheons for aging. As with all his wines, it is bottled without fining or filtration. Perfumed blue and purple fruit rules, with sultry plum, wild blueberries, and fragrant mulberries along a bright, brisk palate, belying its 14.5%. Tannins are long and fine, shaping this stony, saline red through a lingering finish.
