Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, CanadaFauna is a new line of red wines from Nova Scotia's Lightfoot and Wolfville focusing on the hybrid grapes that have proven well suited to their maritime climate. For Fauna (vs Flora, the white in the series), this blends Léon Millot, Petite Pearl, and Marquette from local growers, partially carbonically fermented, and all rested briefly in stainless. Juicy plum, dusky dark raspberry is woven with a foxy herbaceousness that ends on tart cassis. The palate is cushy soft, and tannins are near negligible, though guide this to a maritime tart / saline end.
