The property has pioneered massale selection in Chianti since 1983, preserving genetic diversity within Sangiovese, vital to forming the estate's identity and commitment to ongoing quality. There should never be any obvious oak or chocolate or cooked fruit in Chianti Classico, and this '21 Berardenga complies with an earthy, leathery, spicy, savoury underside that offsets a vibrant, crunchy red fruit topside, housed in salinity, minerality, and herbs. Complex yet inviting, it is classic Classico from a vintage that will be in the running for the Vintage of the Century.
