Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceFounded in 1947, Palmer & Co. is one of Champagne's high-quality co-ops. La Réserve is the refreshed face of their classic Brut Reserve, and sets the stage for the Palmer style, one of elegance and harmony, by using a selection of Premier and Grand Crus vines grown in the Montagne de Reims. Some 25-35% of the mix is made up of reserve, adding a surprisingly rich texture you seldom see at this price point. The nose is enticing, pitching citrus, white fruits, and apricots with a subtle hazelnut and fresh pastry undercurrent. Consistently well made every year, you can count on its lemon and ripe red apple palate, propelled by bright acidity. The blend is 50-55% chardonnay, 35-40% pinot noir, and 10-15% pinot meunier.
