Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, SpainAlbamar NAI is a Mencía red made by winemaker Xurxo Alba to honour his mother, whom they refer to as the best cook of Rías Baixas. Nai Albamar originates from the warm vineyards of Ribeira Sacra and undergoes a six month maturation in French oak barrels before being bottled. The wine is a deep, rich red-purple colour. On the nose, it has a refreshing ripe black fruit with a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, the texture is soft and creamy, with a savoury mix of red fruit compote and perfect acidity. Mencía is always a rich red, but its supple nature makes it easy to enjoy.
