McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaFrom organic Onkaparinga Hills syrah, planted on schist and clay in 1996 comes this perfumed, crunchy, savoury, and structural syrah, all whole bunch (20% carbo), early-ish picked, native fermented and pressed to seasoned French oak for 5 months with no additions or deletions save for minimal SO2. Sultry salted plum, fragrant boysenberry, perfumed mulberry, wild botanicals, and heaps of white pepper and flake salt are woven throughout the slight palate, hugged with fine, supple tannins, and lingering long with stony salinity and ample lashings of white pepper.
