Ochota Barrels The Green Room Grenache 2024
McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaFrom McLaren Vale's Onkaparinga Hills, this organic grenache comes off a vineyard planted in 1946 on limestone and schist soils. This was native fermented with 65% whole bunch, with up to 12 days on skins before being basket pressed to older French barriques for a couple of months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with a wee tip of sulphur. Pouring a very light crimson hue, this gracefully wild grenache weaves botanical herbs, wild raspberry, morello cherry, ferrous kisses along the slender palate, lit with a buzzy acidity, and wrapped in a whisper of tannins. The finish fades out into bergamot and sarsaparilla.
