Bodegas Vilano Terra Incognito Ribera del Duero 2021

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainFrom 100ish year old vines, this was fermented over 10 days at warm temperatures, followed by 2 weeks' maceration, and then 22 months in French barrels before bottling, and another year's rest there before release. As expected, ripe and dense, with sweet, port-like fruit reflecting the picking decisions, and ample sticky tannins that finish bitter, revealing the assertive winemaking. Heady kirsch, black plum jam, allspice, dried florals, and black licorice fill the thicker palate, finishing with warmth, bitter espresso, and baking spice. Old school, full throttle RdD that drinks more like a port wine than a table wine.Tasted: 09 June 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
