Bodegas Vilano La Baraja 2021
Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainA giant of tempranillo that I can only surmise has been somewhat contained by the addition of cabernet sauvignon (15%) and merlot (10%) to the mix. The vineyard's old vines, grown over limestone, face north, providing some of the freshness that balances this rich red. The nose is full of big, savoury, earthy notes mixed with black fruit. On the palate, it spreads far and wide, offering more black currant, blackberry flecked with black pepper, tobacco, licorice, and balsamic, along with classic oak tones. There is no rush to drink this wine, which should comfortably age for a decade. Impressive.Tasted: 09 June 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $75.00 | 750ml | estimated market price in B.C. |
