Black Sage Vineyard Pipe 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis fortified wine made in the south Okanagan is entirely merlot. Grain spirit is used to stop the fermentation at 19.5% alcohol. It's been aged in neutral oak for more than three years. The fruit is ripe, figgy, and sweet, with a smooth, spicy finish that falls between a Ruby and a Late Bottled Vintage style. It would be fine with chocolate or nutty cakes, but it's also enjoyable to sip now. Pipe was coined by the lexicographer Harry McWatters as a nod to the most commonly used wooden barrel in the production of Portuguese Port, thereby respecting the protected term Port.Tasted: 30 June 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
