It comes from the organic Stoneridge Vineyard in Willamette's Ribbon Ridge, planted in 1985. It was fermented in an assortment of containers, older barriques, puncheons, and stainless steel tanks. The nose has an attractive scent of pear, lemon, and grapefruit pith with a nice mineral underside and a fresh finish. Love the balance here. Seafood, anyone? Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThe grapes were sourced from Stoneridge Vineyard, an own rooted organic site planted in 1985 in the northern part of the Willamette Valley, within the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The juice was transported overnight to Tantalus' East Kelowna cellar and fermented using seven pinot gris yeasts. It rested on the lees for three months in a combination of neutral wood and stainless tanks and underwent partial malolactic fermentation. This opens with light notes of apple, lemon, and pear that follow through on the flavours. Precise, focused cool climate fruit is the key here, straddling the line between apple and pear, while adding a hint of lemon citrus. Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThis 2024 Pinot Gris (a first for Tantalus) names the vineyard on the front label, and is Tantalus' series of Crafted in BC (CIBC) wines from the 2024 vintage. This comes from Stoneridge Vineyard in Willamette's Ribbon Ridge, a special selection of organic, own-rooted vines planted in 1985. The fruit was pressed on site, with juice transported overnight to their East Kelowna winery for a partial native ferment in older barriques, puncheons, and stainless. It remained 3 months on lees, with partial MLF, before bottling. Fragrant pear, white grapefruit pith and peel stream throughout this sleek, finely textured wine, with a river stone underlay, and lingering humming pithiness.
